How to help a parent with memory changes

Memory changes often show up in small ways first: repeating a question, missing a meal, or losing the thread of the afternoon. Families feel urgency — and also fear of overreacting.

Start with the day, not the diagnosis. A clear “what’s next” rhythm (meals, calls, a gentle activity) reduces confusion more than long explanations.

Keep familiar people close. Faces, names, and one-tap calls matter more than new tools. Invite only the people who should see the day.

Protect dignity. Share what already happened calmly. Avoid scoreboards, constant check-ins, or framing care as surveillance.

NomiDay is built for that balance: a private family circle, optional location, and a daily companion — not a medical monitor or emergency service.
