Family check-ins without surveillance

Distance makes families invent dashboards: Did they eat? Did they walk? Are they OK? Useful questions — harmful when they become constant monitoring.

Prefer “what already happened” over live tracking. A calm shared day reduces anxiety without hovering.

Invite-only sharing keeps trust. Up to a small circle is usually enough; more people adds noise, not care.

Location should stay optional and under the older adult’s control — support, not surveillance.

If something feels like an emergency, use local emergency services. Apps cannot replace that judgment.
